Based on the ability of CCLPr to reduce loss of muscle proteins and muscle mass in aging mice even when they were obese or transplanted with tumors that caused further muscle loss, the company has started to examine how this protein might affect the longevity of these aging models. While the experiments are at relatively early stages, it is already clear that CCLPr significantly (20-30%) enhances life expectancy of old mice under all the above conditions. The CCLPr treated old mice are more vigorous (measured by their extent of mobility) most probably due, at least in part, to their improved muscle health.
Eventually, the company hopes that one day CCLPr will be used in the clinical practice to help older people, whether they are normal weight, obese, or even under tumor treatment by the company’s or any other chemotherapy formula, to extend their life expectancy by maintaining their muscles and body in better health.
The company welcomes collaboration offers from entities interested in any of the three major projects with the goal of eventually preparing the most promising ones for human studies.
